Call for papers –IEEE-IWDS 2017
Asif Naeem is organising a 5th version of his workshop, 5th IEEE International Workshop on Data Science (IEEE-IWDS 2017). The workshop will be held on September 13, 2017 in conjunction with the ICDIM 2017 Conference that will take place from September 12 - 14, 2017 in Fukuoka, Japan.
3rd Data Science Research Group Workshop on Recent Developments in Data Science
Sarah Marshall chaired the Joint NZSA+ORSNZ Conference with Priya Parmar which was held at AUT between 27-30th November. She welcomed over 200 delegates, primarily from NZ universities. There were 115 contributed talks by academics, practitioners and students from New Zealand and abroad. There were two post-conference workshops - Data Visualisation with 18 participants and Health Analytics with 50 delegates including several members of AUT’s Data Science Research Group.
A/Professor Russel Pears co-chaired the Workshop at ACML (Asian Conference on Machine Learning) ACML 2016.

Parma Nand organised first version of his workshop TMNZ 2016 successfully with conjunction of ACML 2016 in Hamilton, New Zealand. The workshop attracted international participants as well as industry representatives. Next plan is to move this event at conference level by merging TMNZ with another workshop IWDS 2016 under DSRG.
Farhaan Mirza featured as a key speaker along with Oliver Neuland and Jing Ma at the IoT Conference in Auckland. The talk presented a case study on harnessing the power of seamless monitoring with IoT.

Asif Naeem has recently published his article in Journal of Computational and Applied Mathematics - an A-ranked journal.
Farhaan Mirza has received the school research award of $10K.

One of our student’s paper titled “Staged Online Learning: A New Approach to Classification in High Speed Data Streams” has been accepted in IJCNN 2016 (ranked A in core).
